About Indoor Fairy Lights
Indoor fairy lights are low-voltage LED string lights designed for interior use. Unlike outdoor or holiday
string lights, indoor versions focus on flexible wire, warm-white colour temperature, USB or battery
power and damage-free mounting — so they work on painted walls, headboards, ceilings and rented
apartments where drilling isn’t an option.
The most common uses are bedroom ambient lighting, photo wall displays,
dorm room decor, kids’ room night lights and small apartment
styling. The most common problems buyers run into are: strands that are too short for a full wall,
fixed clips that can’t be repositioned, battery boxes that die within a week, and non-certified wiring that
flickers or overheats.
This page is the central hub for our indoor lighting range. Browse the

Quick Things To Look For Before Buying
- Match the length to the wall. 10–17ft is too short for a full-wall display; 33ft / 10m
comfortably covers a queen bed wall or a photo wall. - Check the power source. USB is best for a fixed outlet spot; battery gives you freedom but
needs recharging or replacement every 30–80 hours. - Prefer movable clips over fixed clips. Fixed clips lock you into one photo spacing — you
can never adjust after installation. - Look for UL588 / low-voltage certification. Indoor decorative lighting sold in the US
should carry a recognised safety mark, especially for kids’ rooms. - Warm white (2700K) reads “cosy”; cool white (6000K) reads “commercial”. For bedrooms and
dorm rooms, warm white almost always photographs and feels better.

Frequently Asked Questions
These are general category-level questions. For specific specs, voltage or dimensions, visit the individual
product detail page.
What are indoor fairy lights used for?
Indoor fairy lights are used for ambient bedroom lighting, photo wall displays, dorm room decor, kids’
room night lights, window and headboard styling, and small-apartment decorating. Because they’re
low-voltage and cool to the touch, they can be left on for long periods in living spaces.
Can I use indoor fairy lights in a dorm room?
Yes — most dorms allow low-voltage LED string lights as long as you don’t drill into walls. Use command
hooks or adhesive clips, and choose UL-listed low-voltage models to stay within dorm safety rules.
How long should indoor fairy lights be for a bedroom?
As a rule of thumb: 17–33ft for a single wall or headboard, 33–66ft for a full-room curtain or ceiling
canopy, and 10–17ft for shelves, desks or small photo walls.
Battery or USB — which is better indoors?
USB is better when you have a fixed outlet nearby and want constant brightness without battery changes.
Battery is better for temporary setups, renters, dorms and anywhere you can’t reach a socket.
Are indoor fairy lights safe to leave on overnight?
Low-voltage LED fairy lights with a certified power adapter or battery box run cool and are generally
safe for overnight use. Avoid covering the battery box, don’t daisy-chain multiple strands into one
adapter, and replace any strand with damaged or exposed wiring.
